Hello, my name is Julius and I have recently bought a Dell Vostro 1000 laptop with an ATi Radeon Xpress 1150 video card of 512 mb of Video with hyper memory capable of 831 mb of video in total, but I can not use more than 128 mb of video, although my Vista Basic also states, that I have 831 mb. to use.
P.S.
There are no settings for the video card neither in the Catalysis Control center, nor bios, but I need to change the modes really bad, PLEASE HELP.
Sincerely yours,
Julius.|||Get rid of Vista. It's too glitchy. XP works better right now.

Intermittant video card problem.?
I am having an intermittant problem with my computer video card. Sometimes when I power up the system, the video card causes the monitor to turn completely off (not just power savings mode). The monitor cannot be turned back on unless the computer is turned off and then back on. Just cycling power on the monitor doesn't do it. I don't have any other video symptoms. I don't see anything in the VGA pinout for controlling the monitor power so I'm guessing that I just need to replace the video card. Any other ideas?|||im guessing its not yuor GPU , it cant turn yuor monitor off
How do i fix my video card problem?
i just got rise of nations and it installed fine. but after intro video it says graphics failed to initialize. i have a 256MB card ati radeon x1270. i hace vista. its on 16 bit resolution.|||go to the computer store

Would insufficient power supply cause video card problems?
I was wondering if insufficient power supply requirements to power a video card would cause it to stop working properly, I had just purchased a BFG Geforce 8500GT 1GB DDR2 PCI-E card to just replace my integrated graphics(intel gma 950) the cards minimum requirements were a 300W PSU mine says "the power supply won't exceed 250w at an ambient temp of 50C" something like that. The worked for about two days and then I went to turn on my computer and at POST the system beeps(1 beep, 2 beeps; I have researched this error I think means to re-seat the card or use a different card) without a display on the monitor. The video card cant be completely dead because the video card's fan is still spinning inside when the computer is on. So I was wondering if a new power supply that exceeds the minimum requirements would fix this problem or do I need to buy
a new video card as well.

I would start with a new psu and just hope that the card has not been damaged.

Video card problems 9600 gt pny verto pc wont turn on. is there any fix or solution?
i have a pny verto 9600 gt and when ever i plug it in my computer wont even boot it just powers up then down i have a 650 watt power supply it use to work but now it wont and if anyone has this card i was wondering if you could upload a close up of the back of the video card for references to mine im thinking maybe the solder came loose on a part of the circuit Bord|||Have you tried removing the card and connecting to your on board graphics to make sure the problem is with the card?
Edit
I've never owned a PNY card, so I don't know what kind of warranty they have, but if it's still under warranty you might want to contact them to see if you have any options. If it's out of warranty or the damage isn't covered, take it to a computer repair shop and ask them if it can be repaired. Other than that, if it can't be repaired.......

I am having video card problems for Spore-- please help!?
OK
so I installed Spore onto my Windows 7 computer yesterday. My video card is:
Intel(R) Q45/Q43 Express Chipset
I don't know how to tell how many bits my computer has because it should say x86 or something in front of the video card but it doesnt.
My dilemma for Spore is the graphics for other creatures. I got past the cell stage and now in creature stage every other breed is green with blue details except for me. Its really drab and I don't know how to fix it. How do I update my video card to one that will work?
TIA|||right click on my computer and click on properties, it will tell you if you have 32 bit or 64 bit windows.

Motherboard / Video card problem?
I bought a new motherboard Asus P5E-VM HDMI and my video card wont install drivers on it, but the computer still sees that its there, i had an Asus P5NSLI and the card worked perfectly with it, So i put in my old video card which is Geforce 7600GS in the new motherboard and it works fine but why doesnt my geforce 9600GSO doesnt work on the new motherboard can it be that the integrated graphics wont let it? idk how to disable the graphics can someone please help me, i tried calling asus but they are closed right now, what can be causing the problem, when i install the 9600gso and the comp restarts after driver installation it starts with horrible graphics ( lowest 4bit ) and i cant do anything, i tried resetting bios to default but nothing works. it cant be that the motherboard is bad because it works with my older video card even though this motherboard is newer then my old one and my video card works with my older asus motherboard so its not a problem with the video card itself.
New video card- XFX Geforce 9600GSO
Old video card- XFX Geforce 7600GS
New motherboard- Asus P5E-VM HDMI
Old motherboard- Asus P5NSLI
Any help would be appreciated.|||The first thing you need to do is take the 9600 out. Then boot the system back up and go to the add/remove programs and remove all the nvidia drivers. Then shutdown the computer and insert the card. Reboot the system with the monitor plugged into the onboard until you go into bios and select onboard vga off. Then you might have to restart the computer and plug it back into the card. Now you are ready to go to the nvidia website and download the latest 9600 drivers. Video card problem, don't know where to plug SPDIF-pin and GND-pin on motherboard?
I bought a Nvidia gt9400gt md512 video card from newegg.com. Initially I was told I did not need to hook up the little cable that came with it. I've been a little bit dissapointed in the performance of the card so upon troubleshooting the problem, I read that I DO need to hook up the little orange and black wires. The instructions state under "Enabling HDMI output" "Use the compliant SPDIF internal cable to connect both the SPDIF connectors on the VGA Card to your mainboard. Make sure to (1) plug the orange cable into the SPDIF-pin and the black one th the GND-pin on the mainboard: and (2) plug the other end into the VGA card...............". It goes on to say that if you plug it into the wrong spot on the mainboard you can ruin the card. I can not find where on the motherboard I need to connect these two wires to. I've been all over google and Dell and can't find anything. The computer is a Dell Optiplex GX280. According to belarc, the motherboard is made by Dell, and is a 0G8310. I really could use some help on this. Thanks a lot!|||The reason why your card has disappointing performance is NOT because you didn't hook up the SPDIF audio, which is merely sound output through the card's HDMI port.
The reason why your card has disappointing performance is because the 9400GT is a VERY weak card. Its GPU has all of 16 stream processors.
In comparison, the gamer card in the GeForce 9-series family, the 9800GTX+, has 128 stream processors.
You bought a POS card, that's why its performance is disappointing.|||From viewing the layout of the motherboard in your computer on the following page, I can't see that your motherboard actually has an SPDIF header. i.e. there's nowhere to actually plug the lead from your graphics card.|||SPDIF is for enabling digital sound through your HDMI connection.
Since you have a Dell motherboard, you will need to find the SPDIF connection on your motherboard. The location of all connections are easy to find on aftermarket boards, and the manuals they come with, but, since it is a Dell, you probably do not have any such manual showing you the layout of the board.
I went to Dell's support website, selected Optiplex GX280, then manuals, and found the motherboard layout.
It lists no SPDIF connection.
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx280/en/ug/smtabout.htm#wp1051997
Dude, you got a Dell.
You have two options, forget about running the sound through your HDMI connection (not a problem if you run your sound through a stereo instead of the HDTV).
Or you can get a sound card (most all have an SPDIF connector). You may have to disable your motherboards integrated sound if you buy a sound card, as well as plugging your speakers to the sound card. They're fairly cheap these days.

Videos Card problems!?
if a video card requires a 350 W power supply and my PC has 300 W , is it going to work if install it in my PC?|||It depends. If your 300W power supply unit (PSU) has a strong +12V rail (>15 amps) and you do not have any additional peripherals there, the video card may work. BUT then you could be running that PSU HOT at full load (esp. the +12V rail).
It would be better to get a higher rated PSU. Dual +12V rail would be best. Do not just rely on minimum PSU recommendation so that you do not run at or near full load. Get a bigger PSU. It runs cooler, lasts longer and leaves you w/ elbow room for future upgrades|||Yeah they usually rate pretty conservative on that one...they have to assume you have multiple hard drives, fans, and other peripherals running at the same time. It also matters if it is a quality power supply , some over the counter ones are much more stable at a lower rating then a bargain bin one.
I have actually done this myself with no problems at all but if it suddenly turns off and reboots on its own in the middle of a game then you will have to upgrade.

Video Card Problem?
recently my video card has begun to 'paint' little pink/red pixels all over my screen. However only on my desktop or taskbar. If i right click on the desktop and hit refresh they will disappear momentarily before coming back.
Is there a problem with the drivers? [I AM using the Microsoft drivers]
or is it just overheating because it is a knock off?|||Umm, It very well can be overheating. Try taking the side panel and place a fan blowing into that side 3 feet away (many fans have magnets in them!!) and see if you still get them. If not that would point to overheating.
Also, try to find the lastest drivers for that card. (Try this first)

Graphic Card or video card problem idk, help me !!?
Hi peeps, I'm not that smart when it comes to computers, so this was my last option. I reinstalled Windows 7, and apparently I lost my driver installation for my graphic card, and since then my PC works like ****, I can't even play Windows Games without lagging. I already checked on "Display Adapters" or whatever, it says that I have "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter". First time after reinstallation, I saw that I can't put my screen resolution to 1900 x 1200, the highest is 1400 x 1050, so you know...here you go what it says when I try to open a Windows Game
"Hardware acceleration is either disabled or not supported by your video card driver, which could slow game performance. Make sure you have the latest video card driver installed and that hardware acceleration is turned on."
Yeah...before I reinstalled Windows 7, I played GTA IV, Just Cause 2, GTA:SA with no problems at all, now I installed all of them again, and they wont even start. I also tried to download DirectX 11 and when I try to install it it says:
"A cabinet file necessary for installation cannot be trusted. Please verify the Cryptographic are enabled and the cabinet file certificate is valid."
I checked it and its enabled, so Idk what should I do !
I need a update for my video card, but my internet is too goddamn slow, it's so slow that when I open Google.com it takes almost 30 secs to load. So please give me a link where I can download a update because I can't waste my internet on false stuff.
Also it says for my graphic card: "1. LG W2340(HDMI) on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter"
Please help me guys !|||Hi there!

It just randomly started when i launched a game...

thanx|||get a new video card|||check your monitor|||Check your Application Settings and check ATI Support to see if there is a Catalyst or Driver Update. If issue still persists then your VGA card is probably defective or DOA.
Its a shot in the dark but you can also check BIOS settings and allocate more VGA memory usage (if not maxed out already).

Desktop: HP m8330f Video Card Problem!!!?
It seem I might be having a video card problem but I am not sure. It all started this week when I would turn on my computer and the display would be funky. Everything would be big and weird colors. When I went to check the video card in the Device Manager. It said that it was not working properly and had to shut down. When I went to disable the video card, it would be normal, but then there would be no aero effect and 0 capability of game plan. I'm wondering if heat have anything to do with this.

Video card problems?
My problem is the video clips I watch on the internet like on youtube and yahoo clips and such seems to skip as if your playing a dvd that has scratches on the disk. But when I put in DVDs to play they play just fine. Can the problem still be the video card? is there a way you can test the video card? i am using Vista I have High speed internet btw so its not that.|||Its probably the video streaming off the net. You can play it faster than your internet connection can download it so your puter runs out of stuff to play and stops waiting for the downstream to catch up. Playing some streaming vids online you can see a fainter bar in your play bar--thats the download. Try pausing until the faint bar gets a good headstart then play it. You say "its not that" but it is.

Is this a memory or video-card problem?
When watching .avi files on my computer, no matter what software I use (be it realplayer, windows media, vlc, doesn't matter) if I make the video full screen, it flashes and tries to keep up with the file. Like theres a lag or something. BUT, if I downsize the video a little bit, say to 1.5x instead of fullscreen, it works fine. This has just started happening recently. Do you think its a memory problem, graphics card/video card issue or something else? Thank you! 10 points awarded to best answer|||hm
Have you tried with different .avi files? It could be a problem with just one .avi file.. but if you have tried different ones,
then i would say there are two explanations:
#1. the memory ON your graphics card is dying or NOT ENOUGH
#2. You got some kind of driver issue goin on.
If indeed the memory on your graphics card is going bad, theres nothing you can do about it except buy a new graphics card. I think this may be the problem because graphics card memory helps with huge resolutions. The bigger your screen and the bigger your resolution (eg, 1920 x 1200), the more memory you need for your graphics card. Did you change monitors or resolutions?
But, theres also the probability of driver issues. Try re-installing them before you go out and buy a new card.|||i would place money on the cpu before the video card or ram... post some specs!!! also you should look at your system resources and see if the ram is being used up and about the cpu usage...

Video Card PROBLEM! please help?
So i just found out that i had 2 video cards installed on my computer. and i wanted to try my 2 video card to see how it looked. so i selected it and clicked ok and then i couldnt open up any windows. i restarted and everything but i still cant change it back. it shows no windows logon screen, no shut down screen, i cant open the display properties because the window won't come up. it shows at the bottom, but wont come up. i've tried safe mode and tried to change the display there but it wont let me cause it doesn't show any video cards. can someoen please help me switch it? PLEASE and thanks|||basically there is a video driver conflict happened there. i think what you should do is remove the other video card first(what i mean is physically dismount it in your computer) then go to cmos set-up. If you have a built in video card select it in the cmos setting (it pertains to VGA controller) select video booth device whether it is the AGP or PCI or the built in video card installed. Try to booth up again this time the computer will start to its default video driver. this time you could booth to safe mode and remove the video driver files of the one you are not going to use.
or if you 2 video card did you try to transfer the monitor vga connector to the other card just to check if it has display on it because if it has then that specific video card is the one being set by your computer to output it's video signal.
hope this help.....|||Connect it to the other card and change the video settings back to the other card.|||Instead of booting into Safe Mode, try booting into VGA Mode and change your settings.

Video card problem please help?
I have a dell computer running on Microsoft Vista with a 256MB ATI radeon X1300pro video card in it. Because my computer had lots of viruses etc... in it i decided to reformat it. Before I did this all my games ran smoothly on the highest setting. However now all my games are running extremely badly even on low graphics settings! When check the device manager on my computer it shows that the driver needed to run the 256MB ATI radeon X1300pro is installed and up to date however this is not shown when I play games. I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me how I could get my video card running properly again. Thank you.|||Did you install ALL of the chipset drivers? If you are showing any missing or unknown drivers, those are usually the culprits causing the problem. Since you have already installed the latest drivers, that eliminates the video driver - but the video driver alone is not sufficient - you have to have all of the drivers for the computer. Check with your computer manufacturer or your motherboard manufacturer and download any chipset drivers and install them.|||Have you gone to the ATi site and actually downloaded the latest driver for your graphics card?
The link below will take you there, if you are using the built in vista graphics driver that could be the problem.

Video Card problem how do I know it needs replacing or its something else?
Hi
I run 2 monitors off my Nvidia Video card, I have had no issues for 2 years but now sometimes I get flickering lines across one of the screens and if I bang the op of the Sony Vaio PC the computer shuts down, same too if I move the PC on my desk sometimes it will turn off. A few days ago it would not power up and just beeped 8 times, (this is a video card fault apparently)
How can I tell its the video card that needs replacing and not something else.
Any tips on a good video card with outputs for 2 screens a DVI and a normal output.
I don't use the PC for gaming so don't need a super duper video card.
Thanks|||It sounds more like a power supply issue to me, since when you bang on it, the computer shuts down. This probably indicates a bad power supply unit. What you can do, is open the computer and re seat the video card and if the problem continues by banging on it, you know it is the psu. I hate to say, "bang on it," but this would be a way. The only other way to determine if it is a problem with the video card is to install it on another computer and see if the problem replicates.|||I believe it was in Jurassic Park that Jeff Goldblum's character said "technology and violence, not good bedfellows". Start with shutting it down and disconnecting the power. Then remove the video card and check it for any defects like a capacitor that's bubbling up. Also check the motherboard for the same. Put the card back in, reconnect the power and fire it up. Try swapping the monitors between the 2 ports to verify it's not the monitor. I agree with the other answers, you should try removing this video card and put another one in.|||Well test the video card out on somebody elses computer and see if the same thing keeps happening, while you test a videocard in your computer and see if that solves the problem.|||Vision Teck X850XT ; google it and find the lowest price. I paid $73.99 for mine. It has an RV520 GPU. Ati Technologies.|||Well that sounds like a video card error to me, it may be loose and banging on it is not the best solution, you should have reset the card into the slot and made sure you have it in the right PCIE slot not just in your VGA slot as you may have.
Your motherboard may well be damaged and have a cracked mounting slot for the card, if you have recently dropped the PC or it fell over and bumped the card it could have cracked the casing around the card slot or the board causing a defect in the card or the board.
The only real way to tell is close examination and testing with means you do not have. A tech would have to check the terminals of the VGA or PCIE slot or visibly inspect the board around the area.
As for a replacement, the motherboard is easy to replace it is cheap too depending on what type you have and the size, the card is just as easy to replace and can be done for little more than $150-$220 depending on what features you want.

Now if you are the tech type you can find all your parts here and do it yourself, or buy the parts and take them to a tech.
I would go with a Radeon 4000 or better series rather than an NVIDIA make, this is because nVidia for a long time has been on the list as a loser in competition in the graphics market, ATI has led the field in sales, accessibility, performance and overall customer satisfaction for the past few years.

PCI-Express Video Card problem?
i need to buy a PCI-Express Video Card but im not sure because my sysstem info says 1 x PCI-Express slot and im not sure,do i have to take out the one which came with the mother board, not sure what to do reli
My PC is Dell dimension 3100|||If it has 1 pci-x slot then you can fit a pci-x graphics card in there....I don't think you actually have a graphics card installed right now...the 3100 was more of a budget model that has an onboard graphics chip on the motherboard. It's good that you at least have a pci-x though....you can just pop a card in that slot and disable the onboard graphics|||I think you'll find its an (onboard)

They are mostly inadequate, expensive and unavailable.

(ANS) Sys info is saying your DELL has x1 PCI slot inside the machine, the only question you now need to answer is. Is the PCI slot empty i.e. not in use by hardware or is the slot already being used by something i.e. perhaps your current graphics card.
**No! either way whats important is that you have a PCI slot inside the machine, so you can buy a PCI express video card and if the slot "IS" empty thats easy install the new card. If the slot is being used, you will have to physically remove the current/old hardware before you can install the new card in its place.
I hope that all makes sense?
**NOTE: Sys info is abit limited, I recommend a freeware program called Belarc Advisor its a fantastic tool for profiling your hardware & software. A quick search via Yahoo or Google should find it for you (sorry cannot recall the URL).

Broken video card problem question..?
what causes video card goes dead or broken and it there a way to repair it without buying a new one........
...and also how to prevent it to it's death|||The way it dies : HEAT.
The way to prevent it : FANS.
Why it dies : Fan stop working, stuck in dust, radiator is too dusty -> less efficient.
Repair it: Probably not, still under warranty ?|||Heat mainly. Not really, it isnt cost effective at least.
Make sure your computer has sufficiant cooling systems. Two to three case fans and at least a CPU and Vid Card fan for Medium sized cards.
Four to five case fans and CPU and LARGE Vid Card fan for larger cards and duel cards.|||depending on whats wrong with it, it may not be able to be fixed.
as to prevent its untimely death, the best thing to do is keep dust out of your computer. other then that, electronics just give out.

Video card problems????????????
ok so my video card wont let me do anything i think its full or... something cause it wont let me play any more of my games so.... yea im no computer wiz so.... yea can someone help or tell me wat to do??|||Video cards can't get full. Perhaps you could post any error messages you are getting and explain what's happening and how that is stopping you playing games. If you ARE getting one saying your video card is full, I'd suggest it's a prank virus and suggest you run some scans on your computer. You could use this entire guide or start with just the Malwarebytes section and see if the message goes away:
http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.…
If anything is found when you only do Malwarebytes, I'd suggest you run through the entire guide. It looks complex but take it bit by bit. I often find (and I'm fairly cluey these days and have used that guide a number of times on various people's computers) that it helps to copy the page text into NotePad and delete each section as I finish with it.
I'll pop back in a few hours and see if you've added more info so we may be able to sort this out. :-)

New Video card problem?
I just bought a new video card because my old one (geforce 9800 gt) **** out. So I put in this new one (Geforce 9400 gt) and its doing the same thing, even after I update the drivers.

The instructions says to plug it into my power source but I have NO idea where the plug would be. The picture doesn't match what I have you know?
PLEASE HALP
-thanks|||What's the problem? If this card is doing same exact thing as the old card then it is not video card. You just mention about power source for the new video card. The 9400GT does not need a PCI-E 2.0 powerr connector like most new cards. Just make sure you have the minimum requirements and the pci slot is enabled from bios. Good luck.

*Minimum system power requirement based on a PC configured with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor|||That card does not need a power source.
I have seen the problem I think you are talking about. Is the NVidia driver telling you that it is not receiving enough power?
This is a pain in the a$$$ and is difficult to track down.
Usually down to power connectors or weak/faulty PSU so check/change the connectors around in the PC to see if this helps
Use this http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_unin…
to completely uninstall your nvidia drivers, do exactly as the instructions say deleting the registry entries also. then get an 8 series driver from nvidia and re install. turn anti virus off while doing all this.
Note added. You could always change the card for ati radeon 4650 which is cheap and faster and will ignore the nvidia drivers.|||hum the ports are in a different order too...that's weird they usually don't do that.
i know this doesnt help you much, but i would just take it back to the store, you dont want to have the slightest of issues when you first get a vid card they just get worse.
buy ati =)|||You need a computer power supply with at least 18A on the +12 Volt rail.
I don't see the usual 12 volt power connector and PNY's support and website sucks.
Looking at other 9400 GT cards, it is apparent there are no power connector on cards with this chip.

Installing video card problem?
I just recently bought a good geforce 9600gt vid card for my pc. The instructions just tell me to basically take out old video card and then put in new one then reconnect all cables and start the computer. So i take out my old one, and fit in the new card right into the slot. Reconnect everything and then when I turn on my computer, a loud beeeeep noise goes on that sounds sorta like a smoke detector until i turn off my computer. the screen remains black and none of my computer accessories (mouse, keyboard, w/e) dont respond as well. Would anyone know what that beep means and any tips of why it might not be working? I have the correct slot for it and im pretty sure i fit it in perfectly. The instructions dont give **** and all it does is give tips of charging the video card which i know doesnt apply to this. im obviously not much of a computer wizard but ive installed other parts before like ram and sound card but this is just beyond me. Thanks for any help.|||This means one of two things. Your card is dead on arrival, or your card isnt correctly receiving power. Chances are you just got a dead card. Call the place where you bought it from for a refund. Most places will take care of this no questions asked. Other things you can try just in case would be check that you have your card connected to your power supply correctly, and check that your power supply meets the minimum requirements for that videocard. |||The beep means either a) it doesn't work with your computer or b) you installed it wrong. Make sure all connections are snug and the card is inserted completely into the motherboard and such.|||Its possible that you caused a spark of static electricity that ruined the card. Did you discharge all static electricity from your body, install the card on a hard surface free from static (not a carpet!!!), and did you make sure you didn't remove the card from its anti-static packaging that it should have been in until you were about to put it in? |||Video card is required for the computer to get pass the POST (startup) sequences. If video card or memory modules are missing, then it will beep like that. Try taking it out and putting it back in. Might not be full seated in there. I had a problem like that, computer kept beeping. I finally through trial and error got it working by simply pushing down on the video card. It looked like it was all the way in there, but I felt one corner go down like 1 mm. After that it started.|||That beep is telling you something is wrong (but you probably already knew that!) Not all cards are compatible with all PCs. I would download and run the free Belarc Advisor, print out the first page of the report and call the maker of the card. When they ask you about your PC you will be able to tell them more about it because of the Belarc report.
Help me with my video card problem! ?
Every time i try to play the game (Warhammer Mark Of Chaos :P quite old lol) a message comes on screen sayingg 'Your video card does not meet the minimum requirements'. I don't usualy play games from a disc but just found this one thats been lost for ages. I really want to play it again but i click ok which is the only option on the message and the game doesn't play :'( I don't know annything about video cards ect lol ... i have a laptop thats about 2yrs old and no computer...any help lol?|||Basically your computer does not have enough guts to play it.
You will need either a newer laptop (not really recommended) or a better desktop.
A newer computer will eat the game.
You have the same with the other game.
to rationalise, you have a 50cc moped, you wish to pop wheelies two up at 90 miles an hour, fat chance you stand more chance of finding a Rools Royce pick up full of rocking horse manure on ebay|||your graphics card seems to simply be too old or crappy to play it.
you will either have to get a new graphics card or update the graphics controller and try it again.
to update it press start>>right click on "my computer" and select properties>>select hardware>>device manager>>display adapters>>select whatever it is that is there>>go to driver, on top.>>then press update driver.
ps. this will only work if you are using windows
and i doubt it will help anything even if you do it

Nvidia GeForce Video Card Problem?
I have a Nvidia GeForce 9500GT Video Card. It for the past months, it has worked on many games like Left 4 Dead and such. Now, after a Team Fortress 2 Game, the graphics all screwed up for some reason and the PC shut down.
Everytime I reboot, it only shows the windows logo then just reboots all over again. I tried disabling the the video card on safe mode and the PC starts up just fine. But once I enable the video card on the device manager again, the PC would restart.
Should I try reinstalling the drivers? or my video card is already f*cked up?|||Hi, its your driver, if possible find a free graphics driver removal tool to thoroughly remove your old drivers.
Get the latest driver from Nvidia and after rebooting install the new driver.
All should be good.
It will most definitely be the driver and not the card.
Goodluck
p.s. I read your additional info.
Your old driver most likely wont fix it as the process will just restart.
That is why you must try the latest driver, and you must ensure your old one is definitely removed first. There is a free graphics driver removal tool, http://www.guru3d.com/category/driverswe…

2. does the PSU have the right connectors to power the card?
3. are all the power connectors plugged in?
4. what is the temp of the card at idle and at load?
5. did you uninstall all the old drivers from the previous card?|||If it boots in safe mode with the same card then your card is just fine. Reinstalling the driver wouldn't hurt, better if it's the latest drivers. Get them from nvidia website.

Video card problem, I NEED UBER HELP PLZ HELP!?
OK today i upgraded to windows vista home premium from home basic i did a clean install and i thought it would save my drivers but now my video card driver is missing of course my actual card is still in there but even when i tried downloading the drivers it still says i am using vga standard graphics card not nvivia nforce if the drivers dont work what should i do?
system specs:
hp pavilion dv6000
altec lansing
came with 512mb of ram
recently upgraded to 2 gig
graphics by nvidia
only idk what type it is since its remove
ive tried to install the drivers from hp support but it still doesnt have nvidia controll panel
PLEASEOPLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!|||First take a breath...... Ok which package did you download? the nforce drivers which are around 22 MB or the nvidia vga driver at a little over 100 MB? For your video card you need the bigger package. Also did you install the 32 bit (x86) or the 64 bit (x64) version of vista? Those drivers are not compatible in the wrong operating system. If you aren't sure which version (32 bit or 64 bit) of windows you installed you can click on your start button and then right click on computer and select properties and it will bring up an information screen that will tell you if you are running the 32 bit or 64 bit versions. Then I would make sure you downloaded the right driver pack for your operating system (remember it is the Nvidia VGA Driver) and install it. that should clear up your problem.|||Did you, um, INSTALL the drivers? You only said you downloaded them. Do you have your screen connected to the card or the motherboard? Are you sure you downloaded Vista drivers for the correct card?|||You can use Windows XP drivers on Vista and they will work the majority of the time.

Computer video card problem ????
I got a custom made computer with windows xp a nvdia n force 2 graphics chip unknown video card. I am not 100% sure of the problem but im thinking maybe its the videocard this is what is doing. On 2 different monors 1 showing that something is going on with the comp according to the self check and the 2nd just goes to the orange light which i believe tells us that its not getting a signal. the computer i can hear is running cpu hard drive etc i can hear it going but i cannot see anything on the screen. any ideas what it might be.|||Did the problem started happening from the nowhere?
You can try plugging your monitor to the integrated video card of the motherboard. 90 percent of computers come with their own video card, give it a try and if it works now you will be sure what is the issue.

i am waiting for ur answers |||The Nvidia 8800GT is a good graphics cars. It is DDR3 and quite powerful. The price is a bit hefty. It runs at 256bit and 90MHz. It usually has 256, 512 or 640MB memory. It is Vista and DirectX10 ready.
I live in South Africa. Here the price is abou R3000. Converted it costs about $373|||Why not go for a GeForce GTX? It's fast and powerful and will fit on your slot. Whether or not there are any problems with that specific card/board combination as to compatibility (compactability?), you can contact the motherboard maker. I had a similar question years ago about putting a Geforce card on my Biostar board, and they e-mailed me back on the spot. Check the website for the MB maker - some of them have docs showing what cards were tested with what boards. I saw a GTX 280 for about $600 (it's a fast card, and you didn't specify what your pricerange was) with a GB of DDR3. That's got to rock.

Agp video card problem with powersupply?
i bough an agp video card 128mb and it saids it needs a 250 watts power supply but mine is 240watts i was wondering if i disconnect something like the old floppy from my pc will it work ?|||Honestly if you are still messing around with AGP and 240W PSUs, I would just upgrade. AGP is old tech and 240 watts is very low by todays standards. I picked up a 550W not too long ago for about 30 bucks online. You can get over 1000W these days for decent price.
But if you want to stick w/ AGP card and the old mobo that is associated with it just upgrade the PSU. You will be cutting it pretty close w/ that PSU. And you should probably just remove the floppy anyway unless you use it frequently. Floppy drives tend to slow down your comp during boot and drive access times.|||remove the floppy and i think it will work
take the risk if u want
but i will suggest that go to a powersupply consumption calculator
and you will know it|||yeah it should work just pull out stuff you dont need like a dail up modem i would leave the floppy hopethis helps|||No. Floppy barely uses any power compared to your graphics card. Besides, its asking for 250 and you're 10 watts under. You'll be using your entire power supply to power your card (even though it probably wouldnt turn on or burn out). You'll need to upgrade your power supply as well.

Video Card Problems?
Recently I reformatted my computer and had to reinstall the drivers on the disk that came with my computer. Well it wont let me re-install the video driver. I didnt think nothing of it until I couldnt play games because of this. At least I think it is because of this. When I try to install that driver it says files are missing or corrupt. Does anyone know how i could fix this problem? Video Card Problems?
I just got my computer back from PC Club. They wiped it and restored XP.
I got on Can you Run It and every result was that i had no video card. I have an ati radeon 3850 256 mb.
CYRI also notes I have XP Professional but my PC notes i have Media Edition.
I'm thinking I just didnt install my drivers so i download the drivers for my card for Media Edition. The computer restarts and says I have an ATI Radeon 2100. I also downloded the 3850 drivers for Professional.
That's not even the default chipset I had with my PC.
It's getting the device from a PCI slot instead of my PCI Express x2 slot.
What do I do? I tried uninstalling the 2100 and it doesn't work. It won't recognize my 3850 and everythings installed correctly..|||Right click on "My Computer" and click on Properties - then go to Hardware and Device Manager.
Anything with a yellow symbol needs to have a driver downloaded for it.|||OK, 3850 is a video card; a good one; but the rest sounded like black hand ripping off to me. Everything so far says this computer here isn't even the one you handed to the shop.|||It sounds like your puter has been raped!
I'd take it back and ***** up a storm.

Video Card problem, drivers, 3D acceleration, and WoW?
I recently tried to start playing WoW with a friend. When I tried to boot it up, it says that World of Warcraft was unable to start up 3D Acceleration. After reading around, and running various tests, I don't think it's DirectX that's the problem. I originally had a Radeon 9600 video card, but the port for the monitor broke, so I replaced it with a Radeon 9200 my father had. Well, the Radeon 9200 isn't compatible with WoW so I got a GeForce FX5200 yesterday. I still can't figure out how to get the 3D acceleration to work. I go to command prompt and enter dxdiag to open the options, and when I go to the display tab, under the option for 3D acceleration, instead of letting me enable it, it says Not Available. So I'm thinking its my drivers that are messed up, however, I don't know how to get rid of my old drivers from my past 2 cards, and where to get/how to install the drivers for the GeForce FX5200 (I tried 2 hours ago and in the nvidia installer, it said my operating system was not windows, even though it is.)
Can anyone help me out with a detailed explanation? I'm more computer savvy than the average person but obviously not enough to figure this out.|||this site here has a nice step by step http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?…
and for that card im using DHzeropoint 9291 for the driver..seems to work ok for a not so great card|||Your video card is the actual hardware in your computer. The driver is the software that allows the operating system (Windows) to communicate with it. If you are having trouble with games you always want to try downloading the latest video driver from the manufacturer (Nvidia and ATI are the most common). Most computers these days should run Wow as long as they are relatively newer (within a few years). You can check your directX version by going to Start > Run > and typing dxdiag. It will tell you the version of DirectX at the bottom.

Video card problem in a laptop?
okay, i have a Vaio CR and I wanted to play Call of Duty 4, but my video card is not good enough...so i want to ask if i can change a video card for my laptop?

My video card problem?
I have a question for someone who knows.. i have heard a lot of opinions from people who dont understands a lot about computers. I just bought a new computer - dual core with 2gb ram, 500gb space, and 2,4 proc i guess. I have a NVIDIA GeForce 7100 / NVIDIA nForce 630i video card, i heard its bad for games, i was wondering will I be able to play World Of Warcraft with my pc without lagging?|||Wow isn't very demanding, so you could play at low detail and low resolution, but that's it.
The GeForce 7100 is just an integrated chipset built-in to the motherboard, it's not a real physical card sitting in a slot. You'd get over 5x better performance from a low-end standalone graphics card like a Radeon 4650 or GeForce 9500GT.|||Yes, you can play WoW smoothly.

Video card problems please help?
Hi, the other day I swapped out my 256mb geforce 8500gt for a 512mb geforce 8600 gt. I downloaded and installed the most recent drivers from nvidias website. the problem is that when i play games, sometimes the screen flashes black, the game becomes super choppy and then my pc just completely freezes. COD4 need a minimium of a radeon 9800pro or geforce 6600.
Before you buy check what slots you have in your comp. open the side of your comp. in the bottom left corner there will be a bunch of slots. smaller white/yellow are PCI(the worst) larger black/brown/red/orange are AGP(okay) Larger white or yellow slots in place of the agp slots are PCI EX(the best).

Video card or motherboard problems?
Recently my computer has been crashing when I'm playing graphic intense games and when watching videos(and sometimes it will just be sitting there without any programs in the background running). Most of the time it will just shut down and try to reboot, but it will make these strange long beeping sounds(one long beep, two short;when I checked it said something about video card problems). My husband has tried putting the video card in a different slot but it still does the same thing.
Could it be the video card itself or the motherboard? Is there some sort of test to tell what it is?|||It sounds like it is your video card. Putting it in a different slot will more than likely not fix anything if the video card itself is bad. What you could try to do is buy a cheap video card from someone or like Best Buy and try putting that video card into your computer and see if that fixes the problem. Make sure though that you can take the video card back if it is not the problem or if your video card is the problem but you decide you want a better one than the one you tested from the store.
You said it was making beeping noises that you looked up each motherboard has its own distinct set of system tones the beeping noises that you heard that signal what might be wrong.
You can download this and see what can I motherboard you have
<>http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html…
then you can either call the manufacturer or Google the motherboard and the beep pattern to see what is wrong.|||Beep codes during boot indicate that a problem was detected, but a message can't be displayed on the screen. A video card problem would certainly fall into that category.
Could be that your video card is overheating and shutting down. Since it is still hot, it might not be detected during a reboot.
If it is heat related, it would be a good idea to clean the dust out of the PC with a vacuum cleaner. Also, check that all of the fans are operating - especially any fan mounted at the front of the case. (That one would have the greatest effect on the video card.)
If that doesn't help, install another video card. Perhaps your husband could borrow one from another computer for test purposes.|||i also had that problem before. but,the problem settled after i change my motherboard. to test which one is the problem, first you try to download the latest driver for your motherboard and your graphic card.if this don`t settle it,try to remove your graphic card, just use your integrated graphic on board. if the problem still occur, then the problem is at your motherboard. mth_29@yahoo.com

Can you fix my video card problem...?
I have a Dell XPS 600. I was running dual 6800's in SLI and I just bought a 8600GT. I have done the research and should have no issues using the card. Well, I put the new card in, and whether I use VGA, DVI, or S-Video to connect it to my monitor, it just DOESN'T pick it up! I can hear the PC go into windows, but my monitor stays in powersave mode. I've already set up the drivers for the nvidia 8 series card. Does anyone know what the problem is? Is my card fried? Thanks in advance for the help.|||You should use same model of graphics card to be able to configure SLI. You said you're using 6800 and bought 8600, that would not work.

Plz help!....Video card problem!?
hey everyone...
i was thinking of upgrading my video card.
but.... here's the problem:
My system has a 300 watt power output.....but the card i want needs 350 watts...
so i was wondering if the card would still work?
By the way...i have minimul things on my system....( not any extra hardware)
So will it work?|||it will only run for a minute, and turn off because it has not enough power. you should look into getting a bigger power supply|||you were the one asking a stupid question, so i KNOW you don't know much

Video Card Problem, Help from professionals please?
I have a 8600 gt standalone video card. Last night, i was playing a game and turned off my computer normally. The next morning, it took a long while for my computer to boot. When it actually does boot up, it ran on my integrated video card instead of my standalone one. Can anyone tell me what is going on?
My video card has worked for about a month or so before doing this. My motherboard is pci-e compatible and i have a 500 watt psu, so chances are that can't be the problem.
Also, can it also be my motherboard?
Please help me out here, thanks!
sometimes, like 1/15 times, the card would work|||first thing to do is uninstall driver and switch your pc off, open up and see if your card has been dislodged..take out and replace, reboot and go into Bios settings and make sure video is enabled, exit and save, when booted up wait for prompt in task bar to say found new device, and it should prompt you to install driver..place driver in cd/dvd drive and click on next, install all the drivers on the disc..After that, restart pc..If that dont work, try putting card into another pci slot, that will rule out the motherboard being faulty, which leaves your graphics card as faulty..|||it could be something between you onboard video and your video card mixing together.
you could try reinstalling the drivers for your video card and seeing if that works would be the first suggestion.
also make sure your drivers are up to date for your motherboard and other items of your computer|||You need to check your BIOS settings. Do not make changes in there unless you know what you are doing!
BUT what you are looking for is a Video menu that will turn off the integrated video.

i bought this video card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…
i installed it from the cd off from my old video card. when i switched it to the new one, nothing shows up on the screen when i turn the pc on. i have the dvi connector (gray connector), and still nothing.
when the card is hooked up to the motherboard, it runs. but nothing is appearing on the screen
am i missing something? :(|||Go in to your system BIOS and disable the on board VGA or set it to discrete PCI video card.

Problems with graphics driver or video card?
Hi, I need some help. My 6 month old HP laptop had been freezing up on me lately with alot of colours and lines showing up and then just restarting. It used to show me an error message 'graphics driver has stopped responding and recovered' but its gotten so worst now that once its boots up, it freezes.
Ive updated all drivers, formatted my laptop about 4 times, Re-installed windows about 6 time and its all for nothing. yes im desperate lol but tried every solution i could think of.
DO you think its a video card problem or is there any other problem which will not require changing the video card (or getting a new laptop if i have to spend that much money)
would appreciate your help. thanks|||Sorry to say that you have to change your laptop's motherboard.|||if you're using vista, that's your problem,
at this point i'd bring it to a hardware specialist, it may be something down that alley,
for a easy fix, get a mac book|||your graphics card is pretty much saying that it has had enough and dosent want to live anymore....replacing a laptop graphics card is very difficult and requires a specialist and is most likely in your best opinion to purchase a new laptop

VIDEO CARD PROBLEM??????????????????????!…
i think i have a problem with my video card. when i play games in my computer(specially PC games and Warcraft), there are some brief pauses that i encounter. but i am wondering because my pc has good specs. i have asked this question in Y!Ans before and this one is his answer:
"It's not a problem with your video card so much as an underpowered video card. That is, it's not operating incorrectly; it's just not up to the task of playing video games. You could consider upgrading to a new graphics card except that according to http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ph/en/ho/… , you have a "slimline" model. That refers to the narrower than normal case. It's also called "low profile." Most high-end graphics cards require a full-sized case in order to accommodate their size (especially their coolers). Here's a list of low-profile cards (or low-profile ready) cards from Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis… Among those, there are a couple ATI HD 4650 models, some ATI 4350 models, an Nvidia GT 240 and an Nvidia 9800GT models. I wouldn't go lower than that."
pls explain everything to me that i need to know because i think my video card is really the problem here. does it also mean that even if i have a good video card, it can't still do at its full potential since most high-end graphics cards require a full-sized case in order to accommodate their size?
btw, this is the specs of my video card and system:

don't worry! im giving 10 points if u can really help me!|||You need a video card that has a specific size. The case you have limits you to these type of 'Low Profile' cards. You also have a very small power supply that limits you even further. You would need to buy a bigger case for a larger or full sized card. You would also need to buy a bigger Power Supply as these full sized cards would not run properly on the small one you currently have.
As this is what I believe you have:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum…
you may well need to get a newer machine in order to play the games you want. This machine seems to me to be aimed at the casual user and not a gamer because it uses an integrated video chip with a relatively low end CPU (flame retardant sprayed now). As before the only way to get better video in this box as is, is to buy a 'Low Profile' video card. In order to get one of low enough power requirements to work properly in your box, it would be of low capabilities but better than what you already use. I wouldn't expect it to be that great in terms of performance.
I hope this helps.
Good luck.|||Your video card isn't receiving enough electricity from your power supply to run efficiently and correctly. In addition, it is not correctly cooled and is overheating.|||it may not just be your video card. it could be that your processor has been used for a while so it is a little slower. mine has been doing that lately too. the only thing you have to do is update your drivers and try to stop all the processes that don't really need to be running.

hi everybody ...there is some issues with my video card as a i guess coz some games just don't run correctly for example i have this game called "brothers in arm" when the main title should appear ..it just doesn't the screen becomes black but i can hear a sound ...when i move the corsur it sounds like passing over some itmes that means the game runs correctly but without video ..(just sound)....when i pressed enter few times some picture appeared then some loading started but when it finished the screen became black again but i was able to hear some soldiers talkin and some guns fire (with out video again)..how can i solve that problem??|||you messing up your vid card you pc cant handle all that info take it in for a upgrade doing it yourself is tricky and can cost you big.|||well it might be that your video card isn't compatible with the game
to put it in better words your video card is to weak to handle the game
to check if it's compatible you need to find out what the minimum video requirements to run the game and to be able to see it
i also had that problem

Video Card Problem Choice?
Well I Just got this new game called Neverwinter Nights 2, and I'm trying to find out what is the best video card for a Asus AMD Athlon 64. Because I heard about this ATI double chip thing called a crossfire but it's too expensive buy two chips. So Im looking for a video card under the tag price of $100, that supports my AMD Athlon 64.|||Limiting the price to under $100 puts you well below most enthusiast-grade video cards, which is what you're going to need to run something like NWN2. You can probably do okay for $150-200 though.
Right now, there are number of decent ATI and NVIDIA cards that should fit the bill. I'd recommend something in either the NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT or the ATI Radeon X1950 Pro, as both are in that price range and will probably handle the game decently. Neither are top of the line, but both are fine pieces of hardware.

Video card problem (NVidia 220GT)?
I just installed windows 7 on my computer and, ever since, my NVidia 220GT video card doesn't work despite being found, and only the old inboard video card functions. Whenever I plug my screen to the 220GT, it writes : Nothing sent.
How do I fix this?|||Often, when installing a video card on a machine that previously used internal graphics, you must disable the internal graphics chip, or the system will default to using that internal chip.
unlike what the previous poster said, DO NOT buy a new motherboard to correct the problem. Prior to the OS booting, use the correct key to get into your BIOS settings. There, turn OFF the internal graphics (most likely will be a "primary video device" option or something similar.)
the do a "save changes and exit," which will reboot the machine in this new configuration. If configured correctly, the computer (and the OS) should use your add-on card for a video device, ignoring the internal card.
If you need to use both the internal and external, this may require more advanced configuration, but using only the add-on card is a start.|||get a new mother board there seems to be some kind of interference if you get a new one everything will integrate into it and your problem should be solved

AGP video card problem?
I just got an nVidia GeForce FX5200 video card for my computer. The card says that it has 256Mb of memory. My computer will only recognize and use 128mb, sometimes 64. Why does this happen? The video card for my computer broke so my friend gave me a new one, but when i put it in it sais i need the driver information, well he doesnt have any cd for it, so what im asking is there any way to get the driver information and install this thing without a cd?|||Get it from the card mfgs site|||Check the name of the card (Brand name) and model of the card. Then go to the website of the manufacturer and download.
If you are unable to do that you can see the name of the card when you start up your computer (at the time of POST), just note the name of the display card. You can press pause button if you cannot not note fast.

Help!!!! Video Card Problems?
Ok, so I wanted to switch the video card in my computer to my other computer. I removed it and tried to install it, but for some reason it won't fit, even the the computers are basically the same. I was pissed about that, but whatever. The problem is, now I'm trying to put it back where it was, and it won't go back in!!!!! Help me, please!!!!!!!|||If it is PCI-express, you an try slotting the back part of the card first, making sure all the other pins line up. Then gently push the rest of the card down until there is a satisfactory solid feel to it (if you know what I mean)|||I am guessing that the retention latch on the graphic card slot is in the wrong position. Try to release it. The latch is located on the far end of the slot (the side that is closer to the computer's front panel).
Video card problems on custom build?
I have a 9800 GT from nvidia. The fan on the card works, but the card does not output any video to the monitor. I have tried 2 old crt monitors through a vga - dvi converter and no luck. Any reasons the card would have fans spinning but no video ? The video works on the motherboard on board graphics but is not going through vga - dvi adapter.|||It may not be seated correctly in the PCI-E socket. I'm assuming the card has separate power cables which would turn the fan on. If you have another PCI-E socket, try putting it in there.|||Did you connect the video card's power cables? The 9800 GT requires a separate power connection.
Also, if you want the 9800 GT to be the primary display, you need to adjust the BIOS settings. Otherwise, the onboard video will still be primary and you won't get any display on the 9800 GT until you configure the operating system to use it.

Video Card problem help please?
Today I got a PCI 8400GS Video card. I did everything the instructions said to do, but when I reset my computer the 2nd time, the login screen wont come up, it just stays black. Also, when I Start>Turn off Computer>Standby, It wont even give me that option anymore. I don't know what to do and it's really irritating me... Spent 100$ on that stupid **** and it wont work. I used the cd that came with it to download the software and everything...Any inputs would help. Thanks|||Sometimes the drivers on the CDs are a bit out of date, try going to the site and getting the new version directly from their(have your monitor plugged into your motherboard, get it from their site, then shut down and restart switching the monitor plug to your new video card). You also might to check if their is a newer BIOs update for your computer as well.
It can also be a power supply problem, what kinds of PSU do you have?
Wrose comes to worse Remove teh hardware and start from scratch and do this.Take the card out and boot normally. Safe Mode won't give you much control. Once in the OS you need to go to Device Manager - right-click on "My Computer" and click on Properties. Depending on the OS you have currently you can go into the Hardware tab or button and find the display adapter icon. Open this and double click on the video card listed. Then update driver or uninstall the video card. Or you can change it to Standard VGA. You may get a message that this driver is not made for this hardware - that's ok. When asked to restart, click no. Load the manufacturers drivers then do a full shutdown. Then install your video card and it should come up when you boot. You may also need to go into the BIOS and disable the onboard video chip first. Hope this helps!

Video Card Problem? Need Advice?
Hi, I have a GTS 250 and for the longest time the fan on it has been very loud. It's almost unbearable, mainly because my card doesn't have fan control so it's stuck at 100% fan speeds constantly. Will changing the fan and heatsink for my video card, allow me to have fan control over my video card? I just want to have the ability to have different fan speeds, so browsing the internet doesn't become so annoying.|||You have turn on the manual control for the card, try slow it down a bit or set it back to auto.
Changing the fan and heat sink wont help unless you set to auto or slow the fan speed manually

My new video card problem ..?
my motherboard has a built-in video card but i can't play some online games like which requires a video card with a higher memory . so i decided to buy a video card , and then installed it properly but the problem is i can't now run the online games [ i -DATE , WEAPONS OF WAR ] that i usually play with my old built in video card . Like, every time i open the game launcher , it doesn't appear.
i hope somebody can help me .|||You will need to disable the onboard video card in your BIOS. Either that or set it so the card is initialized first and not the onboard. Or you can disable the onboard video card in Device Manager (Which might be easier).
Also, make sure there is nothing plugged into the onboard video port.

Video card problem-monitor turns off?
i just installed a new video card- nvidia geforce fx 5700 ultra 128MB AGP, videocard and monitor have been tested and all work fine.
as soon as the windows xp logo is gone the monitor turns of by itself. its says'in power safe mode"
nvidia drivers are already installed on the pc
my pc-
p4 2.8 GHZ HT
512MB RAM
geforce fx 5700 ultra 128MB
DYNEX 400 WATT power supply(just bought it, upgraded from a 250 watt)
what could be the problem,|||Going to 'power safe' is a means to prevent failure of the card.
It would appear that there is a power problem somewhere.
Most likely either in the BIOS settings or the power supply, since you say the video card and monitor have been checked already.|||You probably need to disable the on board video. This is done through the device manager. You will see two listed, click disable in all profiles on the factory one. You shouldn't have to mess with any bios settings, this is normally enough to tell the motherboard to use the add-on card. When I installed my card, I would get the boot up screen, then it would go black, and I had to go back to the onboard video slot to see a picture. Nvidia's instructions are a bit vague, so I called them, and was told to go to device manager as I described. That fixed it right away!|||Try to physically change NIC to another PCI slot so it will get another IRQ assigned.|||Did you flash your cmos before installing the device?
Does your motherboard support this video card?
Is the voltage of the card supported as well?
I need to know these things to be able to help you. Good luck :)

City of heroes video card problem
im getting a prompt that says my video card/drivers doesnt support the game. its telling me to either download nvidia geforce 2 or better ati radeon 8500 or better of intel gma 900 or better but when i try the download says my hardware dont support the file and the setup will close. are these the only drivers that will work for CoH??? if any of u have anything different please let me kno.|||First you need to find out what video card you have.
Go to Start>Run. Type dxdiag and hit enter.
A big window will come up and it'll have some tabs at the top. Click the "Display" tab.
If the manufaturer is:
- ATI Technologies, then http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html is where you should go.
- NVIDIA, then http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.asp… is where you should go.
- Intel, then www.intel.com is where you should go (from there you'll have to search for your drivers).
The thing that says "Name" in dxdiag will tell you for which card you need to download the drivers.
If it doesn't work after a driver update, chances are you need to update your computer's hardware itself (i.e., buy a video card).

Monitor/Video Card Problem - Detailed Inside?
Ok so out of nowhere my monitor has these blue and red lines blinking all over the place. If I try to put the refresh rate at 60 hz where its supposed to be, it goes ape-**** crazy and I cant even read anything on the monitor because its going nuts. But, this problem is quite weird.
I have an on-board video card, and my PCI-E video card. I also have two monitors.
The current HD monitor has the problem with the PCI-e video card, but the other monitor works perfect.
The HD monitor though, works perfectly with the on-board video card.
So I have no idea if it is a monitor problem or a video card problem, since they both work under different conditions. The HD monitor works with the on-board video perfectly, while the non-hd monitor works perfectly with the PCI-E video card.
the HD monitor will not work in 1080p at all. the screen goes crazy when I try. I have to keep it at a low refresh rate and resolution to do anything on it.
Odd. I know. Any help would be a great service.
Btw. I already tried separate drivers for the PCI-E card. I also redid my whole OS totally. So thats not it either. I'm lost. Which doesnt happen very often, lol.|||they are not compatable with each other, im guessing it is the gpu that is messing it up, if the hd monitor works, and you connect it to gpu and it is messed up, its the gpu, but are you using a hdmi cable when connecting to gpu, maybe the monitors hdmi port is messed up or the gpu hdmi is messed up|||You may have already tried these steps but this is what we would try first concerning the PCI-e card:
- Check the cable connection is pushed in all the way into monitor and card
- If you have another video cable try it
- Open up your desktop top and re-seat the card, ie, unscrew it pull it out and push it back in, screw in
- Move the card to a spare slot if you have one and try that
- Put the card in another desktop and try it - if it fails here you can be pretty sure the card itself is failing
Good luck

Video card problems.?
Hi, I've gotten a few problems on my PC lately. It started when my PC crashed 5 days ago. I had to reinstall my OS, but when I was done doing that I noticed my screen was messed up and my sound was not working.
I have fixed the sound problem (downloaded RealTek AC97), however there is a problem with my video card. Ever since my PC crashed whenever I scroll down a page, for example, it takes really long for the screen to refresh. I have never had this problem before.

How to Determined if your Video Card is Dead?
My PC experience a problem, many thin white line on the screen show up, and the monitor always died after the log-on screen of my computer, Then i restart it and press F8 before the Boot screen and i run it in "Enable VGA" its work but the resolution is so large, pls help! is it my video card problem?|||You resolution is set to low it just makes the images appear large. I'm feeling your video driver is the problem. Although if you have to continually go into the BIOS and enable VGA it could be a problem with the battery. If you know someone with internet access you can probably just rewrite the BIOS that way you only need to use a system disk floppy. That will take you into DOS and from there you can run the flash program. I would feel safer though getting the BIOS flash program and image file on a floppy sent through snail mail (postal mail)|||You dont say when this problem started. did you just install a new card or did you make changes to the resolution of the one you had already? It sounds like your card is working because you can run in VGA mode. What it sounds like is that your resolution is set on a setting your monitor cannot support. To set it back down you may have to uninstall the driver from safemode. F8 during boot, choose safemode, then uninstall driver. Reboot and reinstall driver in normal mode. Becareful not to choose a resolution higher than monitor will support. |||Remove video card from PC, insert into another (similar) PC that will handle that card, and see if the same issues occur on that PC.
Reset BIOS settings to default / fail-safe.|||Possibly, it could be because your video card is dying of old age.
