9800 GTX Video card problems?

I purchased Mafia 2 for PC, I have latest drivers,dirextx 11 and physics etc but for some reason all i see is black squares, like a chess board? This is not the first game i have noticed this. If i turn shadow of in options i can get away with it in the most part but i cant turn off shadow in this game. Running Vista 64 with 4gb mem on a striker extreme MB any ideas? Thanks.|||You can load up all the newest drivers you want, a 9800 gtx is not a direct x 11 graphic card and it is a fast, but out dated card. Welcome to 2010, a Ati HD 5670 is a good budget video card designed for Direct X 11. A good entry level High End Graphics Card would be a Ati HD 5850 and up, that is designed for Direct X 11. Amd or intel dual core (or more cores) CPU and 2.4 Ghz or higher, and Windows 7 is the best way to play games nowadays. UPDATE Sept. 7, 2010, We just loaded the demo for Mafia 2, using Athlon 2 (X2) 2.7 Ghz, ATI Sapphire HD 5670 1GB and 4 GB of Kingston Hyper X memory, we ran Mafia 2 Benchmark, 1360x768 @60Hz Average FPS=37.7, lowest 16.1 fps , highest 76.9 fps it recommended to lower the graphic card settings, however we didn't lower settings and ran the demo, runs fine, cool graphics, did a smoke show with the car in the garage. We have Just Cause 2, so we already have steam account, to run Mafia 2 Demo. So ya a budget Sapphire ATI HD 5670 with 1 GB of memory can play this game (didn't see any black squares in demo ). HD 5670 not optimal for benchmark tells me a better card than an HD 5670 would be better, like I said before 5850 or better ( High End Card). 5670 plays it though!|||First update your drivers. Just go to nvidia.com and fallow threw the site. If it is still doing it then turn DX11 off in the game if their is a option. If that did not help i would call the manufacture of the cards tech support and see what they say. They might have you send it in to get it replaced. If its under warranty its free to get it replaced.|||Same situation happened with me and World of Warcraft (when I used to play,) I ended up buying a new computer... I would take it to a place though where people like geek squad etc. could take a look at it.
