Having video card problems?

my friend just bought a new video card for his computer and when he boots the display is fine until after the windows loading screen is done then it goes blank. Any suggestions?|||Assuming he upgraded from an integrated video card, did he disable the previous video card in the Bios/or switch it to PCI or PCI express? That might be causing it.
