How do I fix this video card problem?

My boyfriend tried to download updated driver for my video card and he was able to download it and install, but when he restarted the computer the desktop icons were gone. He restarted again and this time the computer doesn't seem to be recognizing the video card at all and the monitor is not getting signal. Yes we checked to make sure all cables were seated properly....what can be the problem and how do we fix it?|||I'm no genious. Hell I just turned 14...But maybe the Files were corrupted or driver was bugged...did you try downgrading back to the driver?
