Is this a memory or video-card problem?

When watching .avi files on my computer, no matter what software I use (be it realplayer, windows media, vlc, doesn't matter) if I make the video full screen, it flashes and tries to keep up with the file. Like theres a lag or something. BUT, if I downsize the video a little bit, say to 1.5x instead of fullscreen, it works fine. This has just started happening recently. Do you think its a memory problem, graphics card/video card issue or something else? Thank you! 10 points awarded to best answer|||hm

Have you tried with different .avi files? It could be a problem with just one .avi file.. but if you have tried different ones,

then i would say there are two explanations:

#1. the memory ON your graphics card is dying or NOT ENOUGH

#2. You got some kind of driver issue goin on.

If indeed the memory on your graphics card is going bad, theres nothing you can do about it except buy a new graphics card. I think this may be the problem because graphics card memory helps with huge resolutions. The bigger your screen and the bigger your resolution (eg, 1920 x 1200), the more memory you need for your graphics card. Did you change monitors or resolutions?

But, theres also the probability of driver issues. Try re-installing them before you go out and buy a new card.|||i would place money on the cpu before the video card or ram... post some specs!!! also you should look at your system resources and see if the ram is being used up and about the cpu usage...
