Video card problems, needs help?

ok i have nvidia geforce fx series card, and whenever i go to install the drivers it shuts my monitor off and reboots, and the install doesn't work.....also i don't think my computer is reading i have a new card in, can someone help?|||Install the drivers in safe mode. Remove any device drivers for the video card and device drivers from any other card that might have been in machine. Reboot the computer go back into the device manager see if there is any more conflicts. Then try to reinstall drivers.
